Talk about a recent experience that has effected you greatly and how.
Talking about recent experience –which means the days after I arrived at Singapore – I’ll say that stranger’s SMILES (in a good way) has affected me greatly.
Recently –I don’t know why – I’ve met some strangers that asked me about some routes in Singapore. Gladly, the routes they’re asking for are the routes that I’ve known well. The first one was an elder asking for a way. I told him where his destination is and show him how can he get there. He then smiled at me and shook my hand, saying ‘thank you’ and I know he really mean it. Something inside of me feels so damn happy like, I don’t know, it’s a feeling that makes me feel ‘oh, I can make someone smile like this.’ Second was 2 western women asking for the route of MRT, I told them the way too and they said thank you as they smiled. Our eyes met, like, 3 times in the MRT and each time they see me, they’ll smile to me (the truthful smile, I know it). I can never really describe how happy I was to be smiled at like that. I somehow feel like I’m useful and omg, I can never really explain it. There are lots of strangers smiled to me lately, well; another one was at my home stay too. The people here are so nice, some even came to my room to greet me as I’m new here, and gave me some gifts. I felt like I belong here, I guess this would be the start of my happiness; I hope it really will. I never thought that one single smile could make my day and make me know what the meaning of being helpful is. Guess I’ll try to smile often (:
